LESSON 02 · CLASS 9 MATHEMATICS (NCERT)

Bar Graphs & Histograms

Master drawing bar graphs, histograms with continuous class intervals of uniform width, and adjusting rectangle lengths for varying class widths.

01 · GRAPHICAL TYPES

Bar Graphs vs Histograms

GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION

Key Differences

• Bar Graph: Displays discrete data using rectangular bars with equal spacing between them.

• Histogram: Displays continuous grouped data using adjacent rectangles without any gaps between bars.

02 · VARYING CLASS WIDTHS

Adjusted Length of Rectangle

When class intervals have varying widths, height of rectangle is adjusted:
Adjusted Length = (Frequency of Class / Width of Class) × Minimum Class Width
