Congruence of Triangles & Criteria

Master what it means for two triangles to be congruent (△ABC ≅ △PQR), the CPCTC rule, and all 5 congruence criteria.

01 · CONGRUENCE & CPCTC

What is Congruence?

Two triangles are congruent if they have exactly the same shape and size. When △ABC ≅ △PQR:
• CPCTC Rule: Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent.

CONGRUENCE CRITERIA

5 Congruence Rules

1. SAS (Side-Angle-Side): Two sides and the included angle of one triangle are equal to two sides and the included angle of another.

2. ASA (Angle-Side-Angle): Two angles and the included side of one triangle are equal to two angles and the included side of another.

3. AAS (Angle-Angle-Side): Two angles and a non-included side are equal.

4. SSS (Side-Side-Side): Three sides of one triangle are equal to three sides of another triangle.

5. RHS (Right angle-Hypotenuse-Side): Hypotenuse and one side of a right-angled triangle are equal to the hypotenuse and one side of another right-angled triangle.
